First day of competition!  This morning's temperature was 36 degrees too cold!  There was a thin layer of ice on everyone's cars....it was good to sit in the car with the heat blasting!  After a quick breakfast in the hotel, Team PCA was off to warm-ups.....swimming in the lanes with "bigger" swimmers is tough!  It's more like dodging swimmers and trying to stay alive!  Check out the photo of the starting block...there is a triangular piece that's movable.  Takes dive starts to a new level for these swimmers!

Kylie was up first for the 200 Fly.....a solid finish in a tough, tough field of girls.  Then it was Aimee's turn in the 100 Breast.....she finished as the top seed going into finals.  Let's keep our fingers crossed!  Kylie finished up her day with the 100 Breast.....and Aimee swam her 400IM.  Let's just say both girls were probably very tired.  Events come up really fast because the boys swim in another pool so the girls' events come up really fast because there is no waiting for the boys events.  This is why 1300 swimmers can swim!

Finals were held in the late afternoon/early evening.....Aimee swam her 100 Breast and this time she was out touched by her competitor by .03!  It was a very close race!  Too bad the touch pad did not register her time so the scoreboard did not show her real time.  Coach Al had to ask the officials for the actual results.....it is a silver medal for Aimee.  2 more days of competition to go!

Today was the best weather ever with the temperature hitting 71 degrees!  So nice....people were lying down outside trying to soak up the sun!  Timers were telling Aimee that the teams from Hawaii brought over the good weather!  Aimee qualified for the 200 Breast and 200IM in the morning session.  Kylie stayed behind at the pool after the morning to swim her 400IM in time trials.  She would have loved to cut some time, but she did swim just about her seed time.  Good swim Kylie!  Watching the afternoon finals session was like sitting in a sauna!  So many people just cramped in one area and because of the temperature being so warm outside, it didn't help that the AC was not on.  (I guess most of the time they don't need AC.)  Aimee moved up in her 200 Breast from 8th seed to finish 6th with her personal best time and held her 4th place in the 200IM.  One more day of competition to go!
(Sorry folks, no pictures for today.....)

Final day of competition!  It was cloudy and a bit rainy all day.  The Cherry Blossom petals starting falling and are now all stuck on our rent-a-car because of the rain.  Glad the pool is indoors.  Aimee swam her 50 Breast and 100IM today.   She finished the day with a 2nd place finish in the 50 Breast and 6th place finish in the 100IM.  Congratulations to Aimee for earning 5 medals out of the 6 events entered, but she has vowed to practice harder for next year.  We hope to see more swimmers enter this competition in 2011.  Now it's time for Team PCA to have some fun!  We will try to drive up Mt. Rainier tomorrow to see some snow....and weather permitting, to have some fun in the snow.  See you all on Tuesday at practice!
